Description: The dam at 4th lake provided water
to be used by Harmac Pulp and Paper Mill at
Nanaimo. The dam was used to store water
for back up water for the Nanaimo River.
At the bridge just before the Cassidy Hotel
there is a pumping station which pumps
water into the huge pipeline which carries
the water to Harmac. During the hot season
when the river level goes down they release
water from 4th lake which enables the steady
supply of water which is necessary for the
production of Pulp and Paper.
